Phil Cummings

Mrs Otten was fortunate to meet Phil Cummings last Saturday. He is an amazing author who has written some fantastic books. Some of his books are on display in the library for you to browse and borrow.
The Makerspace corner of the library continues to expand. We now have  Quiver drawing on tables near the windows. Students can use the whiteboard pens to colour the picture and then make the drawing come to life using the Quiver app on the iPad.

Welcome to Term 4
We have lots of fun in store for this term before we break for the Summer holidays.
During the holidays Mrs Otten met Tim Harris who wrote the 'Exploding endings' series and the 'Mr Bambuckles remarkables' series. He is such a nice person and happily signed copies of his books for the library. They will be available for borrowing soon.

Why does your school library matter?
Mrs Otten would love to know why your school library matters to you. She will be creating a special display of your ideas so have a think. Even ask your parents/carers why the school library matters to them.

Multicultural Day at Amaroo School

This Friday Amaroo School will be celebrating Multicultural day. As the biggest school in Canberra we have students from many different cultural backgrounds. It is going to be a fabulous day of celebrating diversity and how we all contribute to make Amaroo school amazing.
In the Inspire centre we have created a special display of books about many different countries. Come and visit the library during the week to see what you can discover.

Sunday 16 September 2018

It has been a busy Term in the Inspire centre. Some of the events we have celebrated this term are Book Week, Book Fair, Indigenous Literacy Day, International Dot Day, International talk like a Pirate day. In week 10 we will celebrate Multicultural day. What an exciting term.

Students have been busy borrowing books and completing the Chief Minister's Reading Challenge. We are so proud of their efforts and the amount of books they have read. One of our favourite books is 'Don't let the pigeon drive the bus' by Mo Willems. We created a special book return display for the book.

For Book Week, year 3 students created this artwork for the shortlisted book 'Florette' by Anna Walker. It is proudly on display outside the year 3 classrooms.
