Featured Art in the Inspire Centre
Our senior art students have been busy creating sculptures as a class project. They spoke with Mrs Otten at the beginning of the term to ask if they could have them on display in the library. Today they delivered their finished projects and placed them in their display locations. It has been wonderful seeing students from across the school enjoying the sculptures as they use the Inspire centre. The most common question has been "How did they make them?" Parents/carers and community members are invited to visit the Inspire centre to see the amazing displays of student work.Sunday, 17 September 2017

Indigenous Literacy Foundation Book Launch
Mrs Otten was invited to attend the Indigenous Literacy Foundation book launch at the National Library this morning to represent Amaroo school. Children's book author Alison Lester was present at the launch of the Yakanarra Song book- a collection of 14 culturally significant songs written by members of the community in Walmajarri. Alison Lester signed copies of two of her books for Amaroo school students and congratulated us on our participation in The Great Book Swap for Indigenous Literacy Day. The children and elders from Walmajarri sang 3 of their songs and Alison Lester read 2 stories for us.
